Four Winds Interactive Digital Signage System

The Four Winds Interactive (FWI) digital signage system controls many of the flat-screen displays in lobbies and student service areas.

Overview

Temple’s Four Winds Interactive (FWI) digital signage system controls many of the flat-screen displays in lobbies and student service areas. Individual schools, colleges, and departments can post slides submitted by other units or post their own slides. Departments manage their own content using a central repository.

Each screen can display multiple content elements including PowerPoint slides, video, scrolling tickers, and "widgets," such as weather or time. In addition, elements such as event slides can be scheduled to display at specific dates and times.

Departments are responsible for posting and managing their own content. If a group requests to share content with participating departments, Information Technology Services will post the slide(s) in the Shared Content folder and notify all signage participants by e-mail.

Content Creation/Sharing

Slide Creation Tips

  • Standardized Temple templates are available in the Content Manager shared folder.
  • The recommended PowerPoint slide dimensions are 15.8" (width) x 12.6" (height).
  • For best readability, try to limit the slide text to 25 words or less.
  • If submitting multiple slides, include all slides in a single PowerPoint file.
  • The maximum display period is two weeks.

Note: Video files are generally not recommended. If incorporating video for special requests, however, Windows Media (WMV) and QuickTime files are preferred. Due to University accessibility requirements, the requestor is responsible for embedding closed captioning in all video files prior to submission.

Sharing slides across the University

Note: Only University departmental slides will be shared; external or commercial slides are not permitted.

  1. Click the Request Help tab on the Information Technology Services home page.

  3. Click Browse to select the PowerPoint file.
  4. Click Submit Request.
