Remote Labs

On Thursday, March 18, Remote Labs access to TECH Center PCs will be replaced by a new service called OWLab, which you can start using now. Note that Landscape Horticulture and Tyler students will continue to use the Remote Labs service until later this year.


Remote Labs enables students to remotely access specialized software needed for courses from off campus. At this time, the service is limited to Windows specialized software only. ITS is looking into solutions for expanding this access to software on Macs as well.

Due to licensing issues, access to the remote labs service is restricted. Students can talk to their instructors about obtaining access. Once granted, students can use a Windows or Mac computer to access the software by following the instructions below.

Step 1. Locate an Available Lab Computer

The first step in the process is to locate an available Windows computer that has the software you need:

  1. Go to the remote lab list.
    (If you received a different link from your school or college, please use that one instead.)
  2. To find the computer that has your specialized software, click the Search tool on the upper-right portion of the screen and click the title of the software app that you need.

  3. A list of computers that have that software installed will appear. Choose a computer that is listed as Available, and make a note of the name (e.g. TECH-L001).
