Information Technology Services is discontinuing Symantec Endpoint Protection for Temple-owned computers (Windows and Mac) and replacing it with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE).
To continue accessing Temple's on-campus network, all Temple-owned computers must have Temple's version of MDE software installed.
MDE protects your computer and the network from viruses and other malware. Once installed, virus definition update files will be automatically downloaded to your computer as they become available from Microsoft.
Obtain Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
Temple University has purchased a license to distribute MDE software at no charge to faculty and staff for academic (non-commercial) use on Temple University-owned computers.
If your Temple-owned computers are bound to the TU domain or managed by Jamf Pro, the MDE enrollment process is automatic and no additional action is required.
