Tech Bits: Customize Images in Your Next PowerPoint (Students)

Tuesday, February 6, 2018

You love how your PowerPoint presentation is turning out except for a little image has a color that doesn't go well with your color scheme. Try using a PowerPoint feature that lets you change a color within the graphic or make it transparent. The feature works best on images that contain simple shapes with solid colors, such as logos and clip art.

Try it out:

  1. In PowerPoint, double-click on the image.
  2. Under Picture Tools Format, click Color on the left, and select the color you want or select Set Transparent Color at the bottom of the menu.
  3. Making the color transparent? Once the cursor changes, click the color in the image that you want transparent. The tool will recognize the color you are trying to make transparent and convert it in your image.

Don't like your changes? Click Reset Picture under Picture Tools Format to revert back to the original image.

For more information on this topic, refer to the Make a picture transparent instructions on the Microsoft Office support website.
