At least once a month, check to see if you need to install any updates:

iPhone

  1. Tap the Home button.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll down and tap General.
  4. Tap Software Update.
  5. If your phone is not up to date, you will be prompted to install the software.

Android

  1. Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap About phone.
  3. Tap System updates.
  4. Tap Check for update.
  5. If your phone is not up to date, you will be prompted to install the software.

If the options listed above are different on your phone, perform a web search for how to install software update <your phone model> to find out how to check.
