To connect to Temple's network so you can access your office computer, you need to install a VPN (Virtual Private Network) program called Citrix Access Gateway.

Notes:

  • To perform these steps, you must have the ability to install software on your computer. If you are using a Temple-issued computer, you may not have the privileges to do this. For assistance, please contact the Information Technology Services Help Desk by clicking the Request Help tab on the Information Technology Services home page or by calling 215-204-8000.
  • The steps below assume you are using Safari. You may notice some differences if using another web browser.

Connect

  1. In a separate window, go to one of the following websites: https://vendorvpn.temple.edu (Vendor VPN) https://hipaavpn.temple.edu (HIPAA VPN)
  2. If you selected Vendor VPN, enter your AccessNet username and password and click Log On. Then skip to step 4. Otherwise, proceed to step 3.
  3. If you selected HIPAA VPN: a) Type your your AccessNet username and password. b) Enter one of the following: - If you have an RSA SecurID mobile app, enter your token. - If you have an RSA SecurID physical card, enter your four PIN followed by your token. For example, if your PIN is 5555 and your token is 123456, you would enter 5555123456. c) Click Log On. 
  4. Perform one of the following: - If you are prompted to download the Citrix Access Gateway Plug-in, click the Download button. - If you are not prompted to download the Citrix Access Gateway Plug-in, skip to step 13.
  5. After the plug-in has been downloaded, double-click the Citrix Access Gateway icon in the Downloads window.
  6. Double-click Install Citrix Access Gateway Plug-in to begin the installation process.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Click Agree.
  10. Click Install.
  11. Enter your Mac username and password and click Install Software.
  12. Click Close. Then close any remaining windows that are open from the Citrix Access Gateway Plug-in installation.  
  13. If you are prompted to install Growl, click Cancel.
  14. If you selected Vendor VPN , the Virtual Private Network (VPN) Connection web page appears indicating you are connected to Temple's network. You can close this page at any time.
  15. If you selected HIPAA VPN, the Temple University main web page appears indicating you are connected to Temple's network.

Disconnect

  1. Click the Netscaler Access Gateway plug-in icon at the bottom of the desktop.
  2. Click the Citrix NetScaler Gateway menu and select Quit NetScaler Gateway.

Reconnect

  1. From the Desktop, click the Go menu and select Applications. Then double-click the Citrix folder.
  2. Double-click the Access Gateway icon. If you are reconnecting for the first time, go to the next step. Otherwise, go to step 5.
  3. In the Connection box, double-click Edit Connections.
  4. The NetScaler Gateway Preferences window appears. In this window perform the following steps: a) In the Connection box, overwrite New Connection with a descriptive name, such as Temple. b) In the Server address box, type one of the following:https://vendorvpn.temple.eduhttps://hipaavpn.temple.edu c) Click the close button to close the window.
  5. In the Connection box, click Edit Connections and select the connection name you previously entered.
  6. Click Connect.
  7. If you selected Vendor VPN, enter your AccessNet username and password and click Log On. Then skip to step 9.
  8. If you selected HIPAA VPN, enter the following and click Log On: a) your AccessNet username, b) your AccessNet password, and c) If you have a SoftID, enter your current RSA SecurID token. If you have a SecurID card, enter your four digit RSA SecurID PIN followed by your current RSA SecurID token. For example, if your RSA SecurID PIN is 5555 and your RSA SecurID token is 123456, you would enter 5555123456.
  9. If you previously logged on using another computer or browser, you may be prompted to transfer your session. In this case, click Transfer.
  10. If you selected Vendor VPN, the Virtual Private Network (VPN) Connection web page appears indicating you are connected to Temple's network. You can close this page at any time.
  11. If you selected HIPAA VPN, the Temple University main web page appears indicating you are connected to Temple's network.
