Greetings,

Welcome to the Temple University Information Technology Services (ITS) website. As the Vice President for Information Technology, I am honored to lead a team of dedicated professionals committed to delivering an exceptional digital experience. There are so many exciting developments that are happening within our technology communities right now.

Technology is integral to our institution’s mission, and we are dedicated to providing innovative solutions to support your academic and professional endeavors. Our team collaborates closely with faculty and staff to design and implement technology solutions that align with our institution’s strategic goals.

We pride ourselves on our friendly customer service, ensuring you have the tools and resources needed for success. Our website offers a variety of technological services to support teaching, learning, administration, and the broader university community.

Understanding that technology needs vary, we continuously evaluate and adapt our services to meet the diverse needs of our community. Whether you require support for online learning, research tools, or business solutions, we are here to assist.

ITS is the central information technology group providing shared technical infrastructure, systems, and support for the university. We uniquely support every school, college, unit, continuing education program, and all domestic and international campuses. Additionally, ITS provides some support and services to our Temple University Health System partners and affiliated clinical facilities. We also partner with the Temple community to achieve strategic goals and objectives.

Temple ITS is also active in providing services to our surrounding community. We are a founding member and partner of the Pennsylvania Broadband Innovation Consortium and received additional grant funding last year to support the Temple Digital Equity Center. Through the Digital Equity Center, we provided training and distributed over 800 computers to the community. We also hosted the Technology Learning Collaborative (TLC) conference and sponsored the National Digital Inclusion Alliance’s Net Inclusion conference.

Our commitment to excellence is evident: in 2023, we met every organizational service and operating level agreement (SLA/OLA) without significant outages disrupting University and Health System operations.

Last year, ITS handled over 194,000 Technology Support Center contacts and supported events, including the first Digital SAT, CIS Hackathon, and the College of Liberal Arts Cyber Security Day. We meticulously documented our Service Catalog with over 330 services, providing clearer definitions of ITS services available to the Temple community. Additionally, we implemented a Project Management Office (PMO) to handle work intake processes, work reviews, strategic alignment, and work prioritization.

To enhance Educational Technology, we expanded enterprise LinkedIn Learning online training to numerous departments and conducted extensive training programs for Microsoft Teams and other applications. Our goal for Fall 2024 is to centralize smart classroom support and technology funding for all “110” defined rooms on the main campus.

In collaboration with our partners, we transitioned to the RAVE Mobile Safety AppArmor (the new TUSafe application) to support public safety. We worked with Public Safety to identify necessary upgrades to our cameras, including new cameras in Code Blue phones and piloting AI for gun detection. To support enrollment, we collaborated with Enrollment Management and the Graduate School to introduce our new Slate CRM system for undergraduate prospecting and recruitment.

In the Strategic Security area, we enhanced the University’s Incident Response Plan (IRP), developed critical playbooks, and launched an Annual Cyber Security Awareness Training program.

We are committed to using technology to support and enhance the mission of the University. In 2024-2025, we plan to:

  • Develop technology roadmaps that show direction for enterprise ITS service areas over 18 months to three years.
  • Strengthen ITS’ project and work governance to prioritize work, foster trust, and build relationships.
  • Support our faculty and community by enhancing faculty and administrative profiles to share data services, highlighting significant work and achievements at Temple.
  • Establish an internal AI platform to support academic, research, clinical, and administrative functions while protecting confidential, institutional, and research data.
  • Enhance our data-sharing model by building on the existing data architecture framework to support the University’s data-driven initiatives. We will also expand our data warehouse and work with the community to help turn data into information.

Thank you for choosing Temple University. I look forward to serving you with the best technology solutions available. Our staff is ready to assist if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Larry Brandolph
